Ivry Serres Architecture

Ivry Serres Architecture is an architectural practice based in Septèmes-les-Vallons, France founded in 2019 by Ivry Serres.

Ivry Serres has been an independent architect since 2000. He studied at the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Marseille and the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (Switzerland). He worked for Laurent Beaudouin and Marc Barani before co-founding the Fernandez-Serres studio in Aix en Provence in 2001. He was awarded the Nouveaux Albums des Jeunes Architectures prize in 2004 by the Ministry of Culture and Communication before creating and co-directing the Atelier Fernandez & Serres from 2006 to March 2019.

In parallel, since 2009, he has been teaching at the ENSA in Marseille, where he advocates an approach based on listening, abstraction and silence. He has been a full professor since 2015. He is a co-founder of the KHORA collective, which examines the city landscape in an annual project seminar. In his essay L'œuvre des matières published by Cosa Mentale (2017), he explores the poetics of the mechanisms of thought in the act of building.
