The "Agora" proposal made by the architects and landscape architects Elena Climent and Silvia Pujalte, from the studio LeA atelier, has won the First Prize of the "Plaça de la Vila" Contest in Sant Antoni de Vilamajor, province of Barcelona.
The municipality of the city called a contest for the reorganization of the square, a circular space of confluence of roads and roads from neighboring towns and that has been losing relevance for pedestrians and is presented as an underutilized vacuum.

All the actions of the winning proposal of the contest are aimed at revitalizing this space for the neighbors. In this way, the project proposes, at first, to tear down the brick walls that enclose the square to allow natural flows on foot that are now interrupted.

The Jury positively assessed the resolution of the topographic difference of almost two meters of difference between the north zone and the center of the square. The architects and landscapers work a friendly topography "The project seeks a more fluid connection from different points. We facilitate access to the upper area with a ladder-ramp of organic shapes as a grandstand that invites you to sit and rest" says Elena Climent.

The square also works with the temporal component that provides richness and variability through the selection of species. They project a fast-growing deciduous trees and a metal pergola with a winding path that accompany the pedestrian in their possible routes, providing a place of refuge. The wickerwork of the pergola works as a light filter that provides shade from the start. In the medium and long term will be invaded by vines that in spring and winter have a spectacular blue and lilac flowering. The metallic structure also promotes flexible uses, be they exhibition, celebrations, parties, games, etc.

From an environmental and economic perspective, and without forgetting the historical aspect, we seek to use traditional and nearby materials, easily available, interpreted from a contemporary perspective. "We understand brick as an identifying material of the place, of the town and of a whole Mediterranean context that speaks to us of manufacturing with local materials. Thus, the new elements of the proposal are also made of brick, such as the benches, the steps or the pavement, "explains Silvia Pujalte.

In addition the project proposes re-use with waste 0, the demolition ceramics is reused both as a filling material and to shape the new pavement.
