The architectural studio Bxd arquitectura, led by Francesc Buixeda and Maria Barcina, has been commissioned to build a new residential tower, part of a new complex in a former industrial area of Cornellá de Llobregat, a municipality bordering Barcelona to the southwest.

The complex is made up of a four-storey volume attached to a twelve-storey tower. The ground floor of this complex is reserved for commercial premises facing Esplugues Street.

The design by Bxd arquitectura was developed in the southwest part of the block, placing the tower towards the main avenue of the municipality and reducing the scale with the horizontal block towards the rest of the streets, facilitating a better urban dialogue with the lower-rise buildings in the area.

The entire complex is supported by a large base with a commercial programme, with access to three staircases that organise the building vertically. Each staircase provides access to four apartments per landing, and only one of the three provides access to all floors of the tower, with the top floor being used for duplexes.

The project pays special attention to the communal areas, creating a terrace on the fourth floor that includes a pool and solarium area where users can enjoy an outdoor space.

The façade is made up of large-format prefabricated concrete elements that follow a precise metric, allowing for systematic construction and giving the project its own image.

The project consists of a 4-storey volume and a 12-storey tower, supported on a first floor basement with a totally commercial vocation facing the Carretera de Esplugues.

The building is organized in 3 staircases and 4 apartments per landing. Only one of them reaches the 12th floor, where the duplexes are located.

Special attention has been paid to the communal areas, leaving an arcaded first floor and access to the lobbies, and a fourth floor free of facilities for the pool area and solarium.

The facade has been designed with large-format precast concrete elements, following a very clear metric that allows a systematization of the construction elements, as well as a very own expressiveness.
