The organisers of BBConstrumat have taken the innovation aspect of the show very seriously, and consequently have set aside a dedicated space at the centre of the venue devoted exclusively to modernisation and new trends, connecting the Talks and Meeting Arena with the Industry Arena. This area will be known as the Future Arena.
This space dedicated to innovation will be divided into four areas, in each of which you can experience different aspects of the future:
This space dedicated to innovation will be divided into four areas, in each of which you can experience different aspects of the future:
Showroom Zone.-
Here you can get a look at the most pioneering materials and products being shown by exhibitors at the show for use in interiors, exteriors and building envelopes.
Universities and Technology Centres Zone.-
This sector enjoys the collaboration of some of the leading technology development and research centres in the sector, such as the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC), the Materials Centre of Barcelona (Materfad), the Institute of Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC), Tecnalia, Carleton University and the Carleton Immersive Media Studio (CIMS), Circular Economy and Stanford University.
Each of the centres mentioned above will be exhibiting their latest technological developments for use in any of the six phases of a building’s lifecycle, from planning through to renovation of a building or engineering project.
In addition, this zone will address topics such as virtual reality, robotics, automation of production processes, 3D printing, the integration of the Internet of Things (IoT) in home customisation and interactions between a building and its owners through devices, and the circular economy as an economic model.

Technical Corner.-
This is the forum for presenting the most notable and innovative projects and best practices by exhibitors at the show.
Start-Ups Zone.-
BB Construmat 2017 will have the pleasure of collaborating with 4YFN, one of the benchmark events in the world of start-ups. The show will be attended by disruptive and pioneering start-ups that are involved in the six phases of a building’s lifecycle, who will be exhibiting and presenting their projects.
The image below shows how the Future Arena will be laid out:
Although the eventwill have one eye firmly on the future, the show’s director, Ione Ruete, confirms that ‘we will not be overlooking the present of the sector. For this reason, this edition of BB Construmat will be attended by more than 400 companies representing over 800 brands, which guarantees that all the participants in the construction value chain will be represented at this edition of BB Construmat.’
In this respect, the Industry Arena of BBConstrumat will be the biggest section of the event, where exhibitors will be showcasing the range of products, materials and services currently available on the market. Given the sheer numbers of exhibitors and represented brands, the show will be a highly inclusive occasion for the whole value chain of the sector.
Furthermore, BBConstrumat will be addressing other issues beyond the business of construction industry, such as training, dissemination, discussions and reflections about architecture, and the current challenges facing the industry. A series of architectural routes are being organised to explore topics such as social housing, the circular economy, and engineering.
In the space known as the Talks Arena there will be a series of conferences on various topics of interest to the sector, such as the Social Housing Conference (23 May), the Innovation Conference (24 and 25 May) and the Circular Economy Conference (26 May).
As you can appreciate, BB Construmat is set to be an event that will embrace the entire construction sector; from current and future materials, products and processes through to debates on topics of interest to trade professionals, whether closely involved with the industry or not.
