"Architectures on the Waterfront" is an exhibition that shows a selection of European architectural works located next to the water and establishing a new link with the city.

Port spaces constitute one of the territories where the transformation of the contemporary European city has been shown with more intensity. The particular stories of these architectures are told through models and audiovisual material, building new reference points for these projects in relation to water.
The exhibition performs a scan in the Archive of the Contemporary Architecture Prize of the European Union - Mies van der Rohe Award. A selection of 68 works, the result of the collaboration between the Mies van der Rohe Foundation, Arquitectes per l’Arquitectura, the Maritime Museum of Barcelona, and the installation of USM.

The particular stories of these architectures that build new spaces for the city's relationship with water arise from a new reading applied to the material accumulated by the different editions of the Awards, just as it was done with publications such as ATLAS or exhibitions such as Spanish Architectures , Chronicle from Europe, where each filter that is applied generates a new look, a new cluster of relationships and possibilities.

The installation was carried out with the USM Haller E modular system, integrating a wireless lighting system. The exhibition is curated by Ivan Blasi and Anna Sala Giralt - Fundació Mies van der Rohe - with Francesc Muñoz, Doctor in Urban Geography and Director of the Urbanization Observatory (UAB).

The exhibition is accompanied by a catalog that compiles different writings made by experts that analyze the transformations experienced by its cities, Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, Oslo, Reykjavik, Lisbon, Rotterdam, Marseille, Copenhagen and Amsterdam, where several large interventions come together architectural quality, which have managed to redirect these urban changes.
